Sipping with Santa 2015
One of the first, big holiday bashes of the year in Kenner is also an important fundraiser for the new Kenner Food Bank. For the 6th year, Kenner’s first lady, Michelle Yenni, and Kenner Mayor and Parish President-elect Mike Yenni, are co-hosts. They will team up with Kenner Councilman at-large Keith Conley and his wife Barbie. Sipping with Santa will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the Chateau Golf and Country Club, 3600 Chateau Blvd. There will be holiday martinis, wine and other drinks along with a delicious array of hors d’ouevres and music from Eric “Dr. Disco” Miller. Santa will be there as well, and all who attend can get a free picture with the jolly man. Santa’s Secret Shopping Village will be set up with vendors offering a unique variety of gift items – everything from jewelry and artwork to clothing and much more. In addition, there will be door prizes, a silent auction, raffles and a live auction. Have a great time, help the Food Bank and pick up a special prize such as framed artwork, dinners at four-star restaurants, hotels stays and fine jewelry. Sipping Santa has raised a total of more than $210,000 in its first 5 years, and that money has helped to keep the shelves stocked at the Food Bank, particularly during the holiday period, with the demand is high. With a new Food Bank ready to open on Oxley Street in south Kenner, there is more space to stock food – and the ability to keep perishable items for the first time ever. The Food Bank serves more than 2,000 people a month, and the goal is to increase that number and help all who are hungry. Admission is $35, along with the donation of a non-perishable food item. On Dec. 1, come for a party with a big purpose – the 6th annual Sipping with Santa. All proceeds benefit the Kenner Food Bank Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Chateau Estates Golf and Country Club, 3600 Chateau Blvd. For tickets or more information, call (504) 467-1351 and ask for Michelle or Stacey
