  • October 19th Sewerage & Water Millage Election Informational Video

    On October 19, 2013 voters in unincorporated Jefferson Parish, as well as the municipalities of Jean Lafitte, Kenner, and Harahan, will be asked to decide whether to approve millages for the Parish’s water and sewerage departments. In this short informational program, 5 basic questions are answered.

    The Jefferson Parish Library is offering a host of fun and free presentations to go along with the summer reading program. Listen as storyteller, Mama Saba, takes kids on quite a journey, all while teaching them “OooooOOOoo, you’d better listen to your mama!”

    The once traditional blessing of the Bucktown fleet was revived during the Bucktown Bash Shrimp and Music Festival. Crowds also enjoyed great food and awesome music during the inaugural Independence Day Festival in the historic Bucktown neighborhood.

  • West Jefferson Clinic Grand Opening

    West Jefferson Medical Center has begun to provide a weekly-accessible nurse practitioner to the Grand Isle community at its new West Jefferson Primary Care Clinic. The nurse practitioner will see patients Wednesdays 9:00am to 4:30pm by appointment and/or walk-in. The clinic’s grand opening was held Monday, July 8th, 2013.

  • Huey P. Long Bridge Widening Opening Ceremonies

    The new widened Huey P. Long Bridge was officially opened to the public on Sunday, June 16th. A 5K run sent runners and walkers alike over the historic bridge before the ceremony and official ribbon-cutting were held to commemorate the opening of the new widened driving lanes.

    Jefferson Parish held its 32nd annual recognition luncheon on Thursday, June 13th in Metairie. The luncheon honors those who work each year for the Parish’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

    Students danced the night away in front of family and friends during A Celebration of Broadway, an annual dance review put on by the Jefferson Parish Parks and Recreation Department. Their instructor is Mrs. Darlene Thornton.

  • Headstart Graduation 2013

    Jefferson Community Action Programs (JeffCAP) held its 14th annual Head Start Graduation on Friday, May 10, 2013. Since 1999, the Head Start program has held this special event to celebrate the achievement of its 5-year-old students. JeffCAP is proud to announce that 355 children graduated from its Head Start Program this year.
