  • Official 2016 State of the Parish Address

    On the 192nd birthday of Jefferson Parish, President Michael S. Yenni has released the 2016 “State of the Parish” The nearly 15 minute video highlights several accomplishments of the Yenni administration and the Council during the first year, including balancing a $613 million dollar budget, the renewal of the Drainage and Recreation Millages and 1% sales tax, and working with the Council and various entities to finalize the lease agreement with LCMC Health and West Jefferson Medical Center. The video also provides updates on all municipalities within the Parish.

  • LSU Ag Center in Grand Isle

    The LSU Agricultural Center brings educational programing to citizens all over Jefferson Parish. But, since Grand Isle is so far away from the rest of the parish, it simply just doesn't get as much programing. Karen Jones, LSU Ag Center Nutrition Agent, along with agents from 4H made the drive all the way down to the coast to meet with Grand Isle seniors and high school students in order to bring them great information on local produce, seafood, and general nutrition.

  • Judge Lionel Collins, Sr. Post Office Dedication

    The President of the United States signed into law house Resolution 2458 to formally dedicate the Marrero Post Office located at 5351 Lapalco Boulevard as the “Lionel R. Collins, Sr. Post Office Building.” Judge Collins served on the bench in the 24th Judicial District Court in Gretna and was the first African American elected to Public Office in Jefferson Parish. Judge Collins made meaningful impacts that advanced equality, justice, health care and access to quality educations The building’s dedication and plaque unveiling was held on Friday, October 21, 2016.
