Terrytown GoldenAgers Senior Center Grand Opening
Community members and elected officials recently gathered to celebrate the completion of the Terrytown Golden Age Center. The 3,900-square-foot facility, which cost just over $1 million, was funded by the Jefferson Parish Recreation Department and gaming revenue received from Boomtown Casino. The center includes several improvements and upgrades, including Americans with Disabilities Act compliancy, a 12-foot ceiling in the main area, an upgraded kitchen, new bingo boards, additional storage, a covered drop off, automatic doors on the front entrance and six handicapped parking spots.

Huey P. Long Bridge Historic Landmark Designation

Watch the September 28th Historic Landmark Designation ceremony, in which the Iconic Jefferson Parish Bridge officially becomes an American Society of Civil Engineers’ National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
Jefferson Parish Oyster Trail Unveiling
Jefferson Parish and the Jefferson Convention and Visitors Bureau unveiled the Louisiana Oyster Trail. Visitors and locals alike will experience the local flavor, as well as the flare of local artists' hand-painted oyster sculptures depicting Jefferson Parish, focusing on Jefferson Parish restaurants that serve Louisiana Oysters.

Lafreniere Spray Park Grand Opening
Jefferson Parish announces the grand opening of Lafreniere Park’s new, cool and refreshing “Spray Park”. The Lafreniere “Spray Park” is located adjacent to the Carousel. It covers approximately 4,000 square feet of surface and will provide five fun, in-ground water spray features alternating with five above-ground water spray attractions and three water ‘cannons’. More than 135 gallons of water per minute will be keeping children 10 years of age and younger cool and wet during the hot summer!
