Terrytown GoldenAgers Senior Center Grand Opening
Community members and elected officials recently gathered to celebrate the completion of the Terrytown Golden Age Center. The 3,900-square-foot facility, which cost just over $1 million, was funded by the Jefferson Parish Recreation Department and gaming revenue received from Boomtown Casino. The center includes several improvements and upgrades, including Americans with Disabilities Act compliancy, a 12-foot ceiling in the main area, an upgraded kitchen, new bingo boards, additional storage, a covered drop off, automatic doors on the front entrance and six handicapped parking spots.
Senior Olympics 2014
The annual Senior Olympics will be held this year in Jefferson Parish from August 24 through November 15.

Tipper Cart 101
Jefferson Parish began transitioning from manual garbage collection to semi-automated collection, with Progressive Waste Solutions of Louisiana (PWSLA) distributing 95-gallon carts to residences and small businesses serviced under Jefferson Parish’s trash collection contract. The new system, one of the most efficient in use today, offers the advantage of preventing wind-blown litter, reducing odors, and improving rodent control. Jefferson Parish 2014 Beanbag Baseball Tournament Senior Citizens from all over Jefferson Parish came out to compete in this year's Beanbag Baseball Tournament. The Parish's Senior Services Department holds
the tournament each year to encourage it's seniors to come out and socialize, exercise,
and, most importantly, have fun!
Uncle Sam Jam 2014 Promo
The Uncle Sam Jam celebration in Jefferson Parish will be bigger and better than ever featuring country music stars Lee Greenwood and Jana Kramer on July 3, 2014, at the Al Copeland Concert & Meadow Stage in Lafreniere Park, 3000 Downs Boulevard, Metairie. Local favorite Christian Serpas and Ghost Town will kick-off the free concerts. Uncle Sam Jam gates open at 4:00pm. The celebration is free and open to the public.
Audubon Bug Mobile at the Library
The Bug Mobile is a mobile education program presented by Audubon Zoo educators. It recently made a stop at the East Bank Regional Library and offered kids an up-close encounter with creepy, crawly critters from and around the world.
2014 Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo Promo
The International Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo is held during the last weekend in July that includes the Sunday. It is the oldest fishing tournament in the United States. This year’s rodeo takes place July 24, 25, & 26, 2014
